Welcome back...
I made this "Welcome Back" card for a co-worker and tried a couple things that I'm not sure are complete successes. Oh well. This blog should probably chronicle my not-so-favorite pieces too, right?...Anyway, here's what I did:
I broke out my Silhouette machine for all the individual pieces--the bicycle, the letters, the coin envelope, and the elephant--from cardstock. I colored the cardstock with Copics. I then used a little white paint in the form of Distress Stain in White Picket Fence on the envelope and the blue background of the card. (Someone commented that it looked like I had colored the envelope with a highlighter--so, it's not exactly a "win".) I still love the orange bicycle, though. I think the results would have been better had I used Neenah Solar White Cardstock but I was using some basic 12 x 12 cardstock I already had in my "stash". And there you have it--you live and you learn.

Birthday Card for my Mom.
I tried a new "technique" (if you can call it that) of daubing a background stamp with pearlized paint. I loved the results--texture, shine and bright color. The photo is a little blurry, but I think you can still see the basic concept.
Quickie instructions: After "stamping the background with paint, I stamped the sentiment on kraft cardstock and then punched out the shape. I don't have a 2nd punch that is slightly larger for the back ground, so I punched the shaped two more times with black cardstock. I cut one of the pieces in half horizontally and the 2nd piece vertically. I then adhered them to the back of the kraft punched shape. This hole piece was then attached to the card with dimensional adhesive.

Thinking of You Card (with fruit), a variation
Earlier this week, I posted a card that was very similar to the one below, but couldn't stop with just one card...
Really love that this citrus image stamp can be used for grapefruit, oranges, limes and lemons. I wanted to create a fresh look by using bright lemony yellow on lime cardstock, as below. I also thought it would be fun to use a navy embossing powder for the sentiment. I think the dark blue works really well with the lime green cardstock and yellow lemon slices:
